Lessons and courses

Each pathway is planned around where you are now, not a fixed syllabus.

The AK method

Assess. Build. Practise. Progress.

  1. 01

    Assess

Your first lessons show where you are now and what you want from driving.

  2. 02

    Build

Core skills such as control, observation and positioning are introduced in a sensible order.

  3. 03

    Practise

Repeat on varied roads until junctions, roundabouts and parking feel natural.

  4. 04

    Progress

Mock tests and independent driving prepare you for the test when you are ready.

Before you start driving

Driving essentials

The main things to understand before and during lessons. Driving rules can change. Always check the latest GOV.UK, legal obligations and Highway Code guidance.

This is general information, not legal advice. Road signs: see the official Highway Code traffic signs.

About your instructor

Every instructor teaching for pay must be on the official DVSA register of approved driving instructors. You can check any instructor on GOV.UK.

      Prices

Clear, upfront pricing. Confirm current prices and availability with Brighton and Hove Automatic Driving School before booking.

      Theory and driving test preparation

Know what to expect before you book your test. Always check the latest GOV.UK guidance before your test.

      Theory test

The theory test has a multiple-choice part and a hazard perception part. Learn the Highway Code, practise road signs, and use official practice material rather than memorising unofficial answers.

      Practical test day

Expect an eyesight check, vehicle safety questions, general driving, independent driving and one reversing manoeuvre. Your instructor will run mock tests so nothing feels new on the day.

Driving test booking rules (owner: review before publishing)

Driving test booking rules have changed recently and may change again. Owner: update this text after checking GOV.UK.

Show Me / Tell Me practice

These are common style examples for revision. Check the current official list on GOV.UK.

      Pass Plus

Pass Plus is an optional course for drivers who have recently passed. It builds experience in situations such as town driving, all-weather driving, night driving, dual carriageways and motorways.

The course has a minimum length set by the DVSA, and some insurers may offer a discount to those who complete it. This is never guaranteed, so ask your insurer directly.

      ADI training

Thinking of becoming a driving instructor? The route to approved status has three parts: the ADI Part 1 theory test, the Part 2 driving ability test and the Part 3 instructional ability test. Qualified instructors also take periodic Standards Checks.

Owner: confirm which ADI training services you actually offer and describe them here.

      Book a lesson

This form prepares your request. It does not confirm a booking until the school replies.

      What do you need?

Front-end checks only make the form easier to use. They are not a security measure, so any live form needs server-side validation.
